Literature Text

Elon put his hands up as the Dwarf edged closer. "Please, we mean no harm. We were just passing through." The Dwarf gave Elon a foul look, examining him like he was some sort of animal. The Dwarf, who was showing no signs of giving in to Elon's reasoning, drew back his axe, and a second later, the tip of Audun's silver sword protruded from the Dwarf's chest. Nat covered his eyes and Elon backpedaled a few steps, turning to Audun.
"What in oblivion was that for!?"
"He was about to kill you!" Audun pulled his sword from the corpse as it fell to the ground.
"You don't know that!" Elon and Audun continued to squabble when Nat knelt down to examine the body, then fell back as a dark mist started rising from the corpse. "E-Elon!"

Both Elon and Audun turned and looked at the carcass and stepped back as the mist materialized into one of the Nriin. Audun held out his sword to the demon.
"By the gods... Kill it!" Audun lunged for the Nriin who pulled out a sword of it's own and a loud 'clang' rang out as the two blades collided. Audun looked at his sword and noticed that the Nriin's sword was somehow corroding his.
"It's destroying my blade!" right as Audun spouted the words, Elon jumped onto the Nriin's back and pulled out his dagger, jamming it into the eye slit of the demon's helm.

as the Nriin fell to its knees, it let out a loud screech, snow white blood leaking from the stab wound. Elon looked at his blade, and saw that the white blood was on his dagger as well. he quickly wiped it off and the blood dissolved into nothingness. Audun stood up, having fell down when the Nriin fell.
"Well, at least we know they can die..."
"Yes, but we also know that they can possess us." Elon and Audun both looked at Nat as he pulled out his book once more. "The Nriin are capable of taking over the soul of a mortal and use their body to their whim."
Audun rolled his eyes. "Fantastic, now not only can they destroy all of us, they can take over our bodies as well!" Elon rolled his eyes at Audun's frustration then turned back to Nat. "Nat, what else is there about the Nriin?"
"Not much, the rest is about Gothran, and... well, you've seen what he can do..."

Elon nodded, and looked at Audun, who was fuming to himself. "Come on, we have to go somewhere that's not so exposed."
"I agree." Audun replied
"As do I." Nat said, closing his book and sticking it back into his pack. Audun's eyes lit up, and he turned to the other two. "I know a place!"
"Where?" Elon turned back to Audun.
"Valbarrow, it's the epitome of Human architecture and one of the most well- defended cities in all of Forendell."
"Yes, yes. I know it. The great city of the East. but how do we know it's safe?"
"It's worth a try, isn't it?" Audun's face was earnest, and Elon knew he was telling the truth. "Fair enough, may the gods help us if Valbarrow is overrun..."
Fifth installment and ending of chapter 2, still open to suggestions on the name of the novel.
